14 days: a little more room between stops
A suggested northern and central Vietnam journey with longer stays in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Hue, and Hoi An.

Two weeks is an opportunity to add time in each place. This suggested route keeps the focus on the north and centre, with Hue as an optional fourth base. Treat the outline as a budget of days, then check actual connections before you reserve stays.
Days 1–4: Hanoi
Allow an arrival day and three flexible city days. Pick cultural visits that match your interests and spread them out. If your arrival is late or you lose time to a delay, this longer stay gives you some room to adjust.
Days 5–7: Ninh Binh
Transfer to the countryside and leave enough time to enjoy more than one outing without rushing. Use an unbooked part of the stay as breathing room for weather or simply a quiet afternoon.
Days 8–10: transfer and Hue
Dedicate the first day to the move between regions. Verify the service, the actual arrival point, and your check-in arrangements. Choose the remaining time around your own historical or cultural interests. If the transfer is awkward for your dates, keep three bases and add these nights elsewhere.
Days 11–13: Hoi An
Include the transfer before planning your first outing. Spend the remaining days in town and nearby places that suit conditions. Keep the final evening free of anything that might complicate packing or departure.
Day 14: depart
Check that the route ends where your flight starts. If a return to the north is required, account for it by removing a night or a base. A route is only realistic once the flight and transfer details fit together.
